SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE (Verbal Sentence)

a. Simple Present Tense Verbal Sentence or Verb 1

When talking about facts (they stay the same for a long time) and habits (they happen again and again) we use THE SIMPLE PRESENT.

Dengan kata lain Tensis ini digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu aktivitas /kebiasaan sehari-hari atau Habitual action dan kebenarannya bersifat umum.

The verb is the simple form of verb. In positive form, when the subject is a third singular person (Talita, she, he) and it suffix s/es is added to the verb.

Penambahan –es hanya berlaku bagi kata kerja yang berakhiran huruf: ss, ch, sh, x, o dan y yang didahului konsonan. Example :

– Go  + es      = goes

– Study + es  = studies

Tobe Do digunakan untuk subject (S)    = I / You / We / They

Pattern/Rumus :

(+) S + Verb Infinitive / V1 (es/s)

I, We, You, They + INFINITIVE  He, She, It + INFINITIVE + -S/ES

(-)  S + do/does + Not + Verb infinitive

(?) Do/does + S + Verb infinitive ?

 

Example :

(+) She walks to school everyday

S      V1 O / adverb

(-) She does not walk to school everyday

(?) Does She walk to school everyday?

 

Keterangan waktu yang bisa digunakan seperti :

♠ everyday

♠ In the morning

♠ every morning

♠ to day

♠ every night

♠ every sunday

 

Simple Present Tense digunakan:

a. Untuk menyatakan kebiasaan sekarang (Habits/daily activty)

Contoh:

1) They play badminton everyday Mereka bermain badminton setiap hari.

2) He goes to school everyday Ia pergi ke sekolah setiap hari.

3) Usually I get up early Biasanya saya bangun pagi-pagi.

4) More people stay in our hotel on weekends

5) They usually come with their family.

 

b. Untuk menyatakan kebenaran umum.

Contoh:

1) Semarang lies in Central Java Semarang terletak di Jawa Tengah.

2) A week has seven days Seminggu ada tujuh hari.

3) Talita works in Rumpita Hotel

4)  She has the competency to perform well at work.

5) Certainly, but she doesn’t speak Japanese.

6) A receptionist welcomes guests in a hotel or an office.
