Background of the Study
In this chapter we will learn how to communication by oral and written using kind language transactional (to get things done), interpersonal and sustained with appropriate fluently and accurately in interact ional reading and monologue especially related to the reading which have narrative toward to the variation of interpersonal meanings.

Social Function of Narrative
Purpose of narrative is to amuse, entertain and to deal the reader with story that deals with complications, problematic event, actual/imaginative of vicarious experience in different ways, and narrative deal with lead to a crisis or turning point of some kind which in turn finds a resolution.

Tujuan Komunikatif Teks: Menghibur pendengar atau pembaca (to entertain/to amose) dengan pengalaman nyata atau khayal/ peristiwa pelik yang mengarah kesuatu krisis yang akhirnya menemukan penyelesaian.. Ciri naratif adalah adanya unsur konflik (masalah) dan resolusi (penyelesaian masalah). Jumlah masalah atau penyelesaiannya mungkin hanya satu, mungkin juga lebih.

Generic Structure / Text Organization
•Orientation that explains about the sets the scene : when the story happened, introduces the participants of the story : who and what is involved in the story (Pengenalan latar: tokoh, waktu, dan tempat)

•Complication that explains about the crisis arises or tells the beginning of the problem which leads to the crisis (climax) of the main participants. (Pengembangan konflik)

•Resolution that explains about the crisis is resolved for better or for worse or the problem (the crisis) is resolved, either in a happy ending or in sad (tragic) ending. (Penyelesaian konflik)

•Re-orientation is closing remark to the story and it is optional. It consist of moral lessen, advice or teaching from the writer. (pesan moral, nasehat)

Language Feature
•Focus on specific and usually individualized participants
•Use of material processes land in this text, behavioral and verbal processes. example: (saying verb) asked., (action verb) arrived, ate, went, etc.
•Use of relational processes and mental processes
•Use the temporal / time connective, conjunctions and temporal circumstances
e. g : One day, a week, later, then, a long, long time ago, when, etc.
•Use of past tense
•Pronouns , example: I, me, they, their, its, it etc.
•Nouns, example :: traveler, bundles, tree, road, stepsister, housework (pekerjaan rumah tangga), etc.
•Action verb in the past tense example: stayed, climed, saw, etc.
•Saying verb yang menandai ucapan example said, told, promised dan thinking verb yang menandai pikiran, persepsi atau perasaan tokoh dalam cerita misalnya : thought, understood, felt etc.

Types of Narrative :
1.Adventure narrative that contain about the struggle, dangerous, survived, heroic, treacherouse.
2.Fiction narrative that contain about the aliens, laser, space suttle, dimension, mutant.
3.Fantasy narrative that contain about magical, apparition, vanishing, shimmering, supernatural.
4.Romance narrative that contain about the embrace, jealously, desire, true love etc.
5.Mystery / crime narrative that contain about identify, investigate, secret, surveillance.
6.Historical narrative that contain about the historical of country, town, city and land.
